Centennial is the established, top-schools pick southwest of Buckley — a polished, safe south-metro suburb with mature neighborhoods and some of the best-regarded public schools in Colorado (Cherry Creek and Littleton districts). It's a longer commute than east Aurora, and for a lot of families the schools and setting make it worth it.
What it's actually like, day one
Centennial is comfortable, leafy, and low-key: established single-family neighborhoods, good parks, and quick access to the Denver Tech Center and the big Park Meadows mall. It consistently ranks well on schools and safety. The base is a ~20–30 minute drive northeast depending on traffic — the price of the setting.
The tradeoff
You trade a shorter commute for schools, safety, and an established feel — and you pay for it, since Centennial is one of the pricier south suburbs. The Piney Creek area on the east side trims the commute a bit while staying in Cherry Creek schools. For families optimizing schools over drive time, it's a strong fit.
Verify before you sign
Confirm the exact district (Cherry Creek vs Littleton) + feeder school for the address, and drive the base commute at your report time — the south-to-east-metro trip varies a lot with rush hour.
Neighborhoods
Centennial spans Willow Creek and Foxridge on the west toward the Tech Center, and Piney Creek on the east side (closer to base, still Cherry Creek schools). Pin down the district for whichever part you're weighing.
